I have not finished anyone's career says Inzamam
Lahore: Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq once again defended the team’s selection for Pakistan’s Test tour of Ireland and England, saying that he is only trying to do what is in the best interests of the team.
Speaking to reporters in Lahore on Monday, legendary batsman said he has not ended anyone’s career prospects. I'm doing my job for the betterment of the team and I haven't interested to end anyone's career.
“I have not ended anyone’s future. We are only trying to do what’s best for our team,” he said, reiterating that the 16 best players were chosen for the England/Ireland tour.
“Everybody knows English conditions are not easy [to play in]. That is why we sent the team there early so that they can adjust to the conditions of England and Ireland"
“I am being criticised for expanding the pool of players. But I have been tasked with bringing forward new talent. We are giving chances to youngsters. They will make mistakes, but they will also learn,” he further said
On the other hand, Inzamam-ul-Haq was so much criticized on selecting young team for Ireland and England tour. Particularly, Fawad Alam's rejection highlighted all over the world through social media. Fawad Alam has great experience in the first class with 56 average and 10 thousand runs. He is performing consistently throughout the first class tournaments. However, his technique was the big issue for his rejection for England and Ireland tour. According to some former players Alam's technique isn't good enough to play in English conditions.
“I am pleased whenever any batsman performs well,” said Inzamam, when asked about his thoughts on Imam’s impressive batting display in swinging conditions against Kent.
“We review performance of all the players,” he added.
Inzamam-ul-Haq when asked what will happen if Sarfaraz Ahmed catches a cold as there is no back-up wicket-keeper - "Inshallah we will try to make sure he stays warm & does not catch a cold"
“Our team is quite capable of winning the Test series against England and the one-off Test against Ireland,” Inzamam added
Inzamam "Everyone knows this is a tough series and in the first half of the summer the ball moves and swings more in England but our team has the ability to defeat England in England"
This is the reason that Pakistani batsmen are struggling in Warm up match against Kent.
Pakistan team were all out on 168 runs against Kent County Cricket Club in Canterbury on Saturday. Only fifty scorer was Inzamam's nephew Imam-ul-Haq who played some delightful strokes to bring up his fifty. He got out on 61 runs. The 22-year old left-handed batsman earlier copped flak for his selection ahead of the long-ignored Fawad Alam, who was once again left out of the final 16 despite performing consistently well and better than some of the new selections in the domestic circuit.
Earlier Inzamam refused to comment on fast bowler Mohammad Asif's arguments in which he said that the team selected for tests against England and Ireland consist of T20I players.
